Wonderful cottage, clean, well equipped, warm with lovely welcoming owners. Fresh flowers on the table with lovely muffins and everything for us to have a nice cuppa on arrival. There are lovely sitting areas and wonderful views all around. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.

We booked for a five night stay in the The Byre at Highgrove Barns. Chris met us as we arrived and settled us in to our accommodation. We were warm and comfortable. Careful thought has been given to the needs of guests and we lacked for nothing. We really appreciated the underfloor heating. One day somebody will do the same for toilet seats, won't that be heaven? Craven Arms village has an excellent supermarket, stocking a wide range of tasty fresh and frozen food. It is also located within comfortable travelling distances to the many attractions of Shropshire, Hereford and Wales. This is a lovely part of our world and we are so pleased to have chosen The Byre for our temporary home. Many thanks to Chris and Rob for a beaut stay.

A lovely relaxing place to stay. We stayed for a couple of days as a base for mountain biking. They have secure storage for the bikes as well. Chris and Rob were great hosts, making sure we had everything we needed even some homemade flapjack to go with a cup of coffee. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable with some cracking views. It was great to get back after a days riding to sit out front of the cottage and enjoy the late afternoon sun.

I am so happy we stumbled across Highgrove barns, such a lovely place to stay. Everything you needed. From baking trays to make cookies to heated flooring. We had such a lovely weekend. The company obviously makes a special holiday but we couldn't have found a more lovely place to stay. Such kind owners to the extent of sending me my charger through the post due to leaving it behind after our short break. The cake was lovely and having milk fresh in the fridge was perfect for our cup of tea we were ready for on arrival 🙂 shops close by and a lovely Chinese. You are surrounded with stunning views.

Lovely owners who offered a very warm welcome, including a tray of tea and coffee fixings; welcome after a long drive! The cottage was immaculate, very artistically decorated and had everything one could possibly need for a self-catering stay, truly a home from home. Owners Rob and Chris Tromans provided plenty of tourist information and were happy to advise on the area if I needed it. The Barns are situated in a beautiful and tranquil area ideal for local exploration. Many thanks! I hope to return.

Wonderful cottage in great location"

My girlfriend and I recently came back from a 3 night stay in the Byre, the intention being to escape London for a short period. Previous reviews drew me to this property and we really weren't disappointed. The cottage itself is cosy but comes with a very well-equipped kitchen, ample living space and a comfortable en-suite bedroom; underfloor heating, especially at the time of the year we went at, was a huge benefit! Location-wise there is a good balance between the cottage feeling isolated in the Shropshire countryside and also having amenities within a 5-10 minute drive. Initially it was slightly tricky to find the cottage (could perhaps do with a larger sign, although we were driving at night), it's a sharp left off from Long Lane soon after passsing the rail crossing and taking a car is definitely recommended. The cottage is close to the pubs/restuarants in Church Stretton/Little Stretton and also the historic town of Ludlow, where there are more expensive restaurants should you wish to dine there. There are also numerous walks in the Hills nearby, which are definitely worth spending a day exploring. A supermarket is also a 5 minute drive away. The cottage does offer wifi, but we both failed to connect to it, however phone signal for a fairly remote area was excellent. The owners made us feel very welcome and were always on hand if we needed any assistance, all the above combined to form an awesome break and I would recommend this to couples of all ages!

We stayed at The Byre for a short break - Friday to Tuesday not having really been to Shropshire before. An excellent location, easy to find, with real home from home comforts (the cake was lovely by the way). The Byre is very well equipped with a large bedroom with ensuite shower room (plenty of hot water!) and a main living area with kitchen, dining table and lounge area which stayed lovely and warm throughout our visit. We really found that there was so much to see and do, with too little time to do it on this visit. Ludlow is a lovely town, well worth visiting and the Ludlow Food Centre on the way back to the cottage is fantastic - we went home with a car full of local produce - partridge, wild boar, rabbit - oh and local cider! The Ironbridge Museum passes available for use drew our attention to this property - and we spent a very enjoyable day visiting Blists Victorian Town and the Museum of Iron - several of the attractions still to do ... thank you Rob and Chris for a great short break, we certainly hope to return to your lovely part of Shropshire.

We arrived to a kindly welcome with a Christmas tree and crackers (over holiday period). Everything was provided -towels, tea towels washiing up liquid etc; often missing in other lets-and the underfloor CH was a joy to return to after a wet day. The Ironbridge entry pass was very useful and The Byre is well placed for Ludlow,Shrewsbury and The Long Mynd. The barn is quietly situated outside a small town-Craven arms- with useful ameneties.

Great for Shropshire walks.

What a find! We stayed in the Dairy for 3 nights and we had a great time. The cottage was tiny but had everything you could possibly want. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed comfortable. The underfloor heating was great once we got the hang of it. The owners were very efficient with the booking and left us homemade cake on our arrival. The cottage came with a free pass to the Ironbridge Gorge museums which we took advantage of. If we'd been there longer we would have spent a full day and visited more of the museums. Did some great walks from Church Stretton and also round Stiperstones. The Ragleth Arms in Little Stretton was excellent for an evening meal. Our first visit to Shropshire and we will definitely return.

Cosy and welcoming

An ideal place to stay whilst exploring Shropshire. The welcome tray was a lovely touch and the books of walks and information about places to see very helpful. We really loved the big bath towels, so often they're too small.

Countryside space, kind people, interesting visits

Not having a sat-nav, we had some difficulty in finding the property when we first arrived. However, once there, our troubles were over. The accommodation was very well appointed, the kitchen well stocked with cutlery, linen and equipment, and our hosts left wine, fruit and cake as well as tea and coffee for us. The surrounding countryside is great for walks, short and long, and we visted National Trust properties and areas. Ironbridge is a 45 minute drive away, and full of interesting museums. We very much enjoyed the gourmet meals delivered to our door - a unexpected and delicious treat.

Relax in Comfort

This was out second visit to Highgrove Barns - we had spent a 5 day break there the previous spring and were keen to return to what we had experienced as a fabulous holiday facility. The setting is excellent - in what was formerly a farm building in a farm yard. The renovation into first class holiday accommodation has been done with taste and an eye to providing comfort and quality. Underfloor heating, decent sized cooking and washing up facilities, a proper bed room with a good size en-suite give enough room to spread out and make yourselves at home. Nothing seems skimped or cheap and cheerful. The location too is good: within walking distance of Craven Arms where there is a decent range of shops offering high standard local produce. In the other direction there is a beer lover's paradise with a local Brewery [Woods]with an on site pub which provides a range of spectacularly hoppy , yet well balanced ales. Try Parish or Shropshire Lass. There is an arrangement with a local visiting chef [Simon] who delivers absolutely top drawer meals. The standard is equivalent to that of an award winning restaurant - the prices are low and the combination is mouthwatering in terms of both food quality and value for money. The prices for what you get in the way of facilities represent excellent value for money -- we are accustomed to paying more for less elsewhere. Were it not for the fact that we live in the North of Scotland, we would be there even more than we are. We have stayed in dozens of self catering places in Scotland and throughout England. Highgrove has seldom been equalled and certainly never surpassed.

From the first day we enqired for availibility to the end of our stay, the service was wonderfull, clear communication by e mail and telephone, personal touch to ensure we were happy and felt home from home. We arrived at this small, warm cosy lit, converted barn, to find a lovely set tea tray, with tea, coffee, suger and biscuits. There was a bottle of wine and fruit also. The accommodation was 1st class! everything you could need including towels etc. Small and cosy, very clean and welcoming, ideal for a short or long stay. The Brye is situated just a short drive from Ludlow and is quite central to lots of beautiful villages and there are plenty of pubs serving good food. There is a shop just down in the village selling all the essential items you may require. The best element of our short stay was the attention to detail and the personal treatment we received. There is not one thing I would want to, or would have wished for... Everything at The Brye was perfect.

A good base for exploring the Long Mynd area, a unique geographical area. Very comfortable accommodation - underfloor heating a special treat in December! Well specified cottage and welcoming owners. Excellent walking country. We had hoped to cycle also but furious winds ruled that out. Caer Caradoc a great walk/climb. This is a great part of the country to visit and this cottage is the ideal venue from which to start

If you want a bit of walking and a bit of mooching around with an option to lie , this is ideal

Although the cottage was self-catered, there was tea, coffee and fresh milk in the fridge as well as some tasty flapjacks to recover from the drive. The location is excellent to get to nearby towns such as Church Stretton or Ludlow. Because of the floor heating, the rooms were toasty all the time, which made it that extra cosy. I have nothing bad to say!
